

The Tollgate Inn is situated on B3107 between Melksham and the Georgian town of Bradford on Avon.
Our favourite place for an enchanted walk is Westonbirt Aboretum near Tetbury, just off the A46, the uk's largest tree museum, a fabulous day out, take a picnic or have lunch at The Gumstool nearby.
The Roman city of Bath is just seven miles away with its obvious attractions as “The Pump Rooms and” the new “Thermae Spa” Britain’s original and only thermal spa. We can arrange tickets for a two-hour spa session at the cost of £18 per person, we can also arrange transport to the Spa. The train runs from Bradford on Avon, one mile away, and is the easiest and simplest way to get to bath without the stress of queuing and parking, reception can give you give you train times.
Bradford on Avon is a Georgian Market town and is only one mile away, lovely walks along the river and canal, also lovely shops and good cream tea stops.
Castle Combe is also worth a visit, the pretty village was host to the Rex Harrison film “Dr Dolittle” and also has a great motor race circuit.
Lacock Village is three miles away and is a National Trust village, beautiful to wander around, visit the Abbey which featured in the Harry Potter films.
Nearer to The Tollgate Inn, “The Courts” National trust Gardens these are situated in the village just 200 yards away, well worth a visit especially to walk off breakfast and head back for a lovely lunch in our gardens.
Great Chalfield Manor is one mile from us opposite the Tollgate. A lovely Tudor house now owned by the National trust with a great moat and swans surrounding it, fabulous to walk around, the house has featured in many period dramas such as Jane Austin, Pride and Predudise.
Dyram Park is just outside Bath and about seven miles from us, a fantastic National Trust property, this house has also featured in many films such as “Remains of the Day”. Why not take a picnic.
